Content moderator

About the role

As a content moderator you will review reported content on Latin American digital platforms and apply the platform policies to determine the appropriate action. Your judgement also feeds the training of the automated classifiers, which means every decision you make improves the system. Spanish varies significantly between Latin American countries, and harmful content often depends on regional context that an automated system does not capture. That is the reason this role exists and cannot be replaced by automation.

Key responsibilities

• Review reported content in text, image and video, and apply the platform policy
• Determine the appropriate action: keep, remove, restrict or escalate
• Apply regional context judgement when assessing language, humour, cultural references and coded expressions
• Record the reasoning code for each decision, which feeds the classifier training
• Escalate cases that require a higher-level decision according to the defined protocol
• Meet the response time targets from report to action
• Take part in the calibration sessions with the Trust and Safety lead
• Maintain decision accuracy measured against quality review
• Follow the wellbeing practices as a requirement: rotation out of high-intensity queues, scheduled decompression and support sessions
• Report new patterns of harmful content that the current policy does not cover
• Contribute to updating the reasoning taxonomy
• Maintain absolute confidentiality about the content reviewed
• Take part in continuous training on policy, regional context and wellbeing

Required qualifications

• Native Spanish, with a solid understanding of Latin American regional variants
• Secondary education completed. University study is an advantage
• Demonstrable ability to apply consistent judgement under defined policies
• Emotional stability and composure, assessed during the selection process
• Explicit understanding and informed acceptance of the nature of the content
• Availability for 24/7 rotating shifts
• Availability to work onsite in Puerto Plata
• Valid Dominican ID or work permit

Preferred qualifications

• Previous experience in content moderation, Trust and Safety or compliance
• Study in communication, psychology, sociology, law or political science
• English at B1 level or above
• Knowledge of other Latin American Spanish variants through origin or residence
• Portuguese or French
