IT and software
QA automation engineer
You will build and maintain automated test suites for United States and Canadian software clients, working the same clock as their engineering teams. Because the Dominican Republic shares a working day with the US East Coast, you will join standups live, pair on debugging in real time, and be reachable when a build breaks. We take a specific view of quality engineering: a test suite that is not trusted is worse than a smaller one that is, because engineers learn to re-run failures rather than investigate them. Reliability comes before coverage on every engagement we run.
About the role
You will build and maintain automated test suites for United States and Canadian software clients, working the same clock as their engineering teams. Because the Dominican Republic shares a working day with the US East Coast, you will join standups live, pair on debugging in real time, and be reachable when a build breaks. We take a specific view of quality engineering: a test suite that is not trusted is worse than a smaller one that is, because engineers learn to re-run failures rather than investigate them. Reliability comes before coverage on every engagement we run.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain automated test suites across UI, API and integration layers
- Diagnose and eliminate test flakiness, treating suite reliability as a first-order objective
- Prioritise coverage expansion by production incident history and code churn rather than by module
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and optimise pipeline runtime
- Build and maintain test data management and environment provisioning for test execution
- Participate in client standups, sprint planning, refinement and retrospectives as an embedded team member
- Perform exploratory and manual testing where automation is not appropriate
- Investigate escaped production defects, identify the coverage gap and close it
- Contribute to progressive delivery infrastructure including feature flagging and canary release verification
- Author and maintain test documentation and runbooks to a standard the client team can operate independently
- Deliver against defined knowledge transfer milestones so the client retains capability
- Mentor junior engineers on the account
- Participate in code review for test code with the same rigour applied to production code

- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins
- Comfort with Git and trunk-based or feature-branch workflows
